FAQs
Every production is different and to a large extent the run time of your finished movie is up to you, as it’s largely to do with how much raw footage you submit, but below are some useful guidelines.
PHOTOS
If you want several captions over each photo submitted, explaining in detail what is going on, then five photos can run for over five minutes of video slideshow.
The fastest photo slideshow rate that is still visually enjoyable on video, (and the best in our experience) is approximately 10 photos per 40 seconds run time (4 seconds per photo/transition).
In this case 50 photos gives you approximately three and a half minutes of slideshow video.
VIDEO
On average once video is edited and transitions have been added, the video footage will have a run time of around 60% of that of the raw video footage submitted. This means that if you submitted fifteen minutes of raw video footage, after video editing you would have approximately nine minutes of video run time in the finished movie.
So combining the examples given above of both photographs and film, the final movie would run to around twelve and a half minutes.
How Long Will My Movie Be (Run-Time)?
Even the smallest productions take a few days to make. Depending on the current volume of work, using the earlier example of 15 minutes video footage and 40 digital photos, we estimate that a finished movie could be produced on DVD for someone two weeks from whenever we receive the raw footage with which to work.
